Abstract

This article investigates the influence of alkali metal release during the high tem-perature co-gasification of coal and biomass,and provides a solid theoretical basis for solving the prob-lems of corrosion,ash accumulation,and scaling caused by the high-temperature release of alkali metals in industrial gasification equipment.In this article,Yangchangwan coal(YCWC)and rice straw(RS)were used as raw materials to in-situ investigate the effects of process parameters on the real-time release characteristics of alkali metals by utilizing an independently constructed visual fixed-bed and laser-induced breakdown spectrometer(VFB-LIBS)coupling system,such as gasification temperatures(900℃,1 000℃,1 100℃),CO2 flow rates,and raw material mixing ratios(YCWC∶RS).Combined with multiple characterization instruments,the effect of the gasified char structure on the release of alkali metals was also investigated.The results show that the gasification temperature,feed-stock mixing ratio and atmosphere are the key factors affecting the release of alkali metals K and Na.The higher the gasification temperature,the greater the maximum release concentration,release rate and release ratio of potassium and sodium.When the co-gasification temperature of Y1R1(50%YCWC and 50%RS)increases from 900℃to 1 100℃,the maximum release concentration of K increases from 59.7 mg/m3 to 107.9 mg/m3.In the process of co-gasification,YCWC has an inhibi-tory effect on the real-time release of K.At a gasification temperature of 900℃,the real-time release peaks of K and Na are observed during the co-gasification of Y1R3(25%YCWC and 75%RS)and gasification of RS alone,appearing at approximately 50 s,156 s,and 1 260 s.For all coal-biomass mixing ratios at 1 000℃and 1 100℃,the real-time release peaks of K and Na occurs only around 50 s and 156 s.In the co-gasification process,the higher the CO2 concentration in the N2-CO2 mixed atmo-sphere,the lower the maximum release concentration of alkali metals and the release rate of alkali metals.A CO2-only atmosphere promotes the maximum release concentrations of K and Na in the pyrolysis stage but inhibits their release during the gasification stage.Alkali metals can react with Si and Al minerals and C—O—C bonds in coal during co-gasification of coal and biomass,which in turn inhibits the release of alkali metals.
