Chemical Characteristics of Surface Soil Elements and Risk Assessment of Heavy Metals in Sanya City

Abstract
To evaluate the chemical characteristics of elements and the extent of heavy metal risk in the surface soils of Sanya City,36 samples from 18 types of surface soils were collected and analyzed for the chemical characteris-tics and heavy metal pollution risks of 9 major elements and 9 trace elements.By employing geostatistical methods,the Chemical Index of Alteration(ICA),Migration Coefficient(Δ)and Geoaccumulation Index(Igeo),the distribution patterns and weathering characteristics of soil elements were revealed.The results indicated that the content of all ele-ments was below the background levels,with high levels of Si and Al,severe loss of K,Ca,and Mg,and weather-ing products dominated by kaolinite,showing a trend of aluminum enrichment.The migration capacity of major and trace elements,in descending order,was SiO₂,P₂O₅,MnO,Al₂O₃,TiO₂,K₂O,MgO,CaO,Fe₂O₃ and Cu,Y,Zn,Ni,Cr,Rb,Sr,Zr,V,respectively.The geoaccumulation index of heavy metals indicated low pollution levels.How-ever,Cr poses a high carcinogenic risk to children,V represents a potential health risk to children,and Mn poses a high health risk to adult males.This study provides a scientific basis for soil environmental management and the pre-vention and control of health risk in Sanya City.关键词
