Spatiotemporal characteristics of wind shear alerts from wind lidar and weather pattern classifications at Beijing Daxing International Airport

Abstract
Based on wind lidar observation data from Beijing Daxing International Airport from 2021 to 2022,a systematic analysis is conducted on the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of low-level wind shear alerts.Furthermore,the relationship between wind shear alerts and weather conditions is examined using 133 alert events in 2022.The results are as follows.(1)There are significant seasonal and diurnal variations in wind shear alerts,with a peak period from April to June and a notably higher alert frequency during nighttime compared to daytime.(2)Weather pattern classifications reveal that wind shear events associated with thunderstorms and strong winds account for approximately one-third of the total alerts,and only 9%of the alerts are triggered by temperature inversion breakdowns.(3)Under stable synoptic conditions,the wind shear alerts caused by vertical wind speed differences tend to last longer.(4)Case studies confirm that the wind lidar system can effectively detect abrupt changes in wind direction and speed caused by cold air intrusions,achieving a wind shear alert hit rate of up to 74%during strong wind events.These findings provide technical support for diagnosing the causes of wind shear,optimizing alert thresholds and improving multi-source data fusion.关键词
