Abstract
Polybutylene terephthalate(PBT)and poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)(PBAT)are critical engineering plastics and biodegradable materials,whose properties largely depend on the reaction progress during the esterification stage.Establishing precise esterification process models through reaction kinetics serves as a powerful tool for efficiently studying the large-scale production of PBT and PBAT.The degree of esterification is a key indicator reflecting the quality of the esterification process.In this study,in situ Raman spectroscopy was employed to achieve real-time and in situ monitoring of degree of esterification during the esterification reactions of PBT and PBAT.An esterification kinetics model was developed based on the terephthalic acid dissolution equation and step-growth polymerization mechanism equations.Model parameters were calibrated using the in situ degree of esterification monitoring results,enabling the calculation of the apparent pre-exponential factors and activation energies for both PBT and PBAT esterification.The simulated degree of esterification curves exhibit a mean squared error not exceeding 0.08 compared to the in situ monitoring data,demonstrating that the proposed kinetics model can predict the degree of esterification of PBT and PBAT within acceptable error limits.This work provides a robust framework for optimizing esterification processes in industrial applications.关键词
