Abstract

Polarimetric synthetic aperture radar(SAR)image ship detection is regarded as one of the core applications of polarime-tric SAR systems,and possesses important research significance and application prospects.Compared with optical images,polari-metric SAR images are usually featured with lower contrast and resolution;therefore,contrast enhancement methods are required to increase the contrast between targets and background.In this paper,a polarimetric SAR image fusion method based on the general-ized optimization of polarimetric contrast enhancement model is proposed.The improved model is composed of the product of two factors.The first factor is represented by the received radar power in the optimal polarization state;the second factor is given by the fusion result of three polarimetric parameters(polarimetric entropy,single-reflection similarity parameter,double-reflection simi-larity parameter).During parameter optimization,greater weights are assigned to weak targets and high-noise backgrounds,so that further enhancement of the contrast between weak targets and high-noise environments is achieved,thus improving the target detec-tion performance effectively.Experimental results show that the proposed method is superior to the existing methods in terms of de-tection accuracy.
