Abstract

This study aims to screen and promote high-quality silage corn varieties suitable for the hilly and gully region of the Loess Plateau in the upper reaches of the Yellow River,represented by Anding district,as well as for the ecological circular economy demonstration zone of grain-to-forage and animal husbandry.Five different corn varieties were used as the research subjects,and their adaptability,biomass yield,and whole-plant corn quality were analyzed and evaluated.The results showed that in terms of adaptability,Dunyu 13 exhibited poor disease resistance and lodging resistance.In terms of production perform-ance,the stem diameter of Dunyu 16 was significantly greater than that of Jinkai 5,Cheng 3359,and Shandan 8806(P<0.05),with the order from high to low being Dunyu 16>Jinkai 5>Cheng 3359>Shandan 8806.In terms of whole-plant nutritional composition,the crude protein(CP)content of Jinkai 5 was significantly higher than that of Dunyu 16,Cheng 3359,and Shandan 8806,with the order from high to low being Jinkai 5>Dunyu 16>Cheng 3359>Shandan 8806.The starch(ST)content of Jinkai 5 was significantly higher than that of Dunyu 16,Cheng 3359,and Shandan 8806,with the order from high to low being Jin-kai 5>Dunyu 16>Cheng 3359>Shandan 8806.In terms of relative feed value and forage grading index,the order from high to low was Cheng 3359>Shandan 8806>Dunyu 16>Jinkai 5.Based on a comprehensive analysis of biomass yield and nutritional value,Dunyu 16 and Jinkai 5 are identified as excellent varieties for promotion in the hilly and gully region of the Loess Plateau in the upper reaches of the Yellow River and for the grain-to-forage initiative.Based on a comprehen-sive analysis of nutrient content and feeding value,Cheng 3359 and Shandan 8806 can be selected as the preferred vari-eties for whole-plant corn cultivation in dairy farming.
