New Discoveries and Exploration Suggestions for Exocontact-type Uranium Deposits in Xiazhuang Uranium Ore Field,Northern Guangdong

Abstract
Xiazhuang uranium ore field is an important uranium resource base in Southeast China.Previous studies have being mainly focused on silicified zone-type,intersection-type,and cataclastic altered rock-type uranium mineralization within granitic bodies,limited attention was paid to exocontact-type uranium deposits outside the granites.In recent years research and exploration,several rich and thick uranium ore section has been exposed by the drilling conducted by Research Institute No.290 in the contact zone between the granitic body and Cambrian strata in the Xiazhuang ore field,indicating the significant prospecting potential in the"contact zone".Based on geological surveys,core logging,and laboratory microscopic observations,this paper analyzed the uranium metallogenic conditions,mineralization characteristics,ore-controlling factors,and metallogenic potential of the exocontact zone of granitic bodies in Xiazhuang uranium ore field.It was concluded that ore bodies can occur in both the pluton and strata near the contact zone,showing little lithological selectivity but within a certain range to contact interface.Their spatial distribution is similar to the"three-story"model of the Lujing large uranium deposit,with uranium ore bodies featuring wide distribution,large thickness,and high grade.Exocontact-type uranium mineralization is strictly controlled by the"four-in-one"combination of fault structures,contact zones,lithological interfaces,and hydrothermal alteration,positioned at the place where NNE-trending regional ore-conducting and ore-controlling faults cut through the contact zone between the pluton and strata.The inflection points of the contact zone where the pluton protrudes outward into the strata is the priority sector for next uranium explorationt in the deep and periphery Xiazhuang uranium ore field.关键词
