Research Progress on Equine Proliferative Enteropathy
摘要
Abstract
Equine proliferative enteropathy(EPE)is an intestinal disease of horses caused by the obligate intracellular bacterium Lawsonia intracellularis.It leads to clinical symptoms such as hypoproteinemia,fever,diarrhea,abdominal pain,and peripheral edema,significantly impairing equine health.EPE is endemic on horse farms worldwide,with an increasing incidence year by year,posing a substantial threat to the development of the equine industry.In recent years,notable advances have been made in the diagnosis,treatment,and prevention of EPE,alongside deepening research into the pathogenic mechanisms of Lawsonia intracellularis.However,research on this disease in China remains limited and deserves greater attention.This review summarizes current literature regarding the epidemiological features,clinical manifestations,pathological characteristics,diagnostic approaches,prevention,and treatment strategies of EPE.The aim is to raise awareness of EPE prevention and control and to provide valuable insights for future research into its pathogenesis and clinical management.关键词
