Abstract

Wuyi rock tea is a traditional Chinese famous tea.This study analyzed the element content differences in rock tea from different producing areas,and constructed a discrimination model to identify the geographic origin of rock tea.This model provided technical support for protecting the geographic indication of Wuyi rock tea.We used inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS)to analyze 39 elements in 50 tea samples from different producing areas.Principal component analysis(PCA),orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA),and decision tree(DT)algorithms were used to obtain the geographic origin discrimination model.The contents of essential elements for human body in rock tea showed a trend of magnesium>manganese>iron>zinc>copper>nickel>cobalt>selenium.The contents of heavy metals such as lead,cadmium,chromium,and arsenic were relatively low in Wuyi rock tea.The content of light rare earth element cerium was the highest(522.9 ug/kg)in Wuyi rock tea.T-test analysis results indicate that Wuyi rock tea had unique element fingerprint,and the contents of zinc,lead,cadmium,scandium,antimony,thallium and bismuth elements in rock teas between two regions had significant differences(P<0.05).The OPLS-DA model can effectively distinguish Wuyi rock tea from non-geographical origin rock tea.The DT model identified two main con-tributing elements,Sb and V,and obtained a classification rule with a tree depth of 3.The average accuracy of the ten-fold cross validation was 92.5%.We successfully established a method for tracing the origin of Wuyi rock tea in a small-scale space based on element fingerprint.
