Correlation Analysis Between Alzheimer's Disease and Reduced Bone Mass Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Elements

Abstract
Objective:To explore the correlation between Alzheimer's disease(AD)and reduced bone mass in the elderly population and the distribution pattern of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome elements,and to identify the risk factors of syndrome elements affecting the occurrence of AD.Methods:Middle-aged and elderly individuals aged 60-80 from several communities in Jiangning District,with a chief complaint of memory decline,were selected as subjects.The Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)was used to screen for the AD population,and its correlation with abnormal bone mass was analyzed.TCM syndrome elements were collected through the synthesis of the four diagnostic methods,and the characteristics of syndrome elements in patients with both AD and abnormal bone mass were explored.Results:The detection rate of AD in the surveyed communities was relatively high.The risk of AD onset was significantly correlated with female sex,lower education level,and lower bone mineral density(P<0.05).Abnormal bone mass was positively correlated with AD risk.The two syndrome elements,"Kidney Deficiency"and"Marrow Reduction,"appeared with high frequency in patients with AD,abnormal bone mass,and those with comorbidity,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:There is pathological homology and overlap of syndrome elements between AD and abnormal bone mass.Therefore,for high-risk AD populations,integrated Chinese and Western medicine methods,such as cognitive scale assessment,bone mineral density testing,and TCM syndrome element analysis,should be comprehensively applied to achieve routine screening and early intervention for AD.关键词
