Abstract

Based on the statistical ledger of sudden geological disasters in Beijing in 2023 and the historical data accumulation,this study explores the relationships between topography and geomorphology,engineering-geological rock groups,geological structures,and human engineering activities and the development of three major geological disasters(collapses,landslides,and debris flows)in the mountainous areas of Beijing.The results show that terrain and geomorphology serve as the foundation for the development of geological hazards and influence their types.Geological disasters are most prevalent in low-mountain relief and hilly landform.A slope range of 15° to 25° is the dominant zone for geological disasters,and the number of disasters shows a positive correlation with the slope angle.The relationship between land relief and geological hazards follows a normal distribution,with the most pronounced development occurring within a relief height of 200 m to 500 m.As the elevation rises,both the density and scale of debris flows show a distinctly increasing trend.Geological structures control the spatial distribution and development of geological disasters.The number of disasters is inversely proportional to the distance from faults.Aeras closer to faults experience stronger compressive and tensile forces due to tectonic movements,which promote the development of rock joints and fractures,thereby increasing the probability of disasters.Within engineering geological rock groups,the number and scale of geological disasters exhibit consistent development patterns,predominantly occurring in relatively hard and hard rock groups.Human engineering activities disrupt the original stable geological environment by creating steep and high slopes,which act as catalysts for the occurrence of geological disasters.
