Effectiveness of ideological and political education in specialized nursing introduction courses based on the OBE concept

Abstract

Objective To explore the application effect of ideological and political education in the introduction course of specialized nursing based on the OBE concept.Methods From September 2023 to January 2024,a total of 212 nursing students from six classes of 2023 in Hefei Technology College were selected using cluster sampling method.104 nursing students from three classes were randomly selected as the experimental group.The OBE based ideological and political teaching mode was applied in the introduction to nursing course.While 108 nursing students from three classes were selected as the control group,and used traditional teaching methods.After the course was completed,process assessment,summative assessment,ideological and political education effect of the course,professional identity,and learning attitude were compared.Results The experimental group's process assessment score was(90.42±7.47)and summative assessment score was(85.28±9.36),which were higher than the control group's process assessment score(85.26±8.52)and summative assessment score(82.42±10.74)(P<0.05).The experimental group's evaluation of the effectiveness of ideological and political education in the curriculum includes four items:respecting life(94.23%),improving professional ethics(96.15%),cultivating scientific spirit(84.62%),and enhancing legal awareness(98.08%).The percentage of students who believe that the effect was significant was significantly higher than that of the control group(79.63%,85.19%,70.37%,90.74%,respectively)(all P<0.05).The experimental group's scores for professional identity and learning attitude were(70.79±8.54)and(67.52±8.34),which were higher than the control group's scores for professional identity(67.37±10.59)and learning attitude(64.78±10.28)(P<0.05).Conclusions The adoption of an ideological and political teaching model based on the OBE concept in the introduction to nursing course has improved teaching quality,cultivated good learning attitudes among nursing students,enhanced their sense of professional identity and educational effectiveness,and is worth promoting.
