Abstract

To reveal the intrinsic mechanism of the mechanical response of soft clay under complex stress history,and explore the quantitative influence of consolidation paths on the evolution law of clay strength and the geometric characteristics of the yield surface,the anisotropic constitutive theory was improved.Using an automatic stress path triaxial apparatus,the contrast analysis of biased pressure and isotropic consolidation was achieved by controlling the consolidation parameter K value.The results show that the void ratio and water content of the clay samples decrease logarithmically with increasing vertical stress,indicating a transition from elastic to plastic compression.Under the same effective mean stress,the undrained strength increases with the stress ratio,and the consolidation path effect is significant at low stress levels,while the effective mean stress becomes the dominant factor at high stress levels.Specifically,when the stress ratio η=0.75 and p'=50 kPa,the undrained strength enhancement rate reaches 117%.The yield surface trajectories under different paths exhibit elliptical shapes,showing a trend of counterclockwise rotation and increasing eccentricity as the stress ratio increases,ultimately converging to the critical state line.The consolidation path not only governs the development of structural anisotropy in soft clay,but also significantly influences the evolution of yield surface geometry.These findings offer important theoretical and practical value for constitutive modeling of soft clay under complex stress histories and for engineering safety assessments.
