Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression changes of MYBL2 and TPX2 proteins in prostate cancer tis-sues and their relationship with patients'prognosis in order to provide a reference for the prognosis assessment of prostate cancer.Methods A total of 251 newly diagnosed prostate cancer cases were collected.Immunohistochemistry(IHC)was used to detect the expression levels of MYBL2 and TPX2 proteins in prostate cancer tissues and adjacent normal tis-sues.Patients were followed up for 2 to 101 months after surgery,and the occurrence of biochemical recurrence(BCR)was recorded.Spearman rank correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between MYBL2 and TPX2,and COX re-gression analysis was used to identify the influencing factors of prognosis in prostate cancer patients.Results The high ex-pression rates of MYBL2 and TPX2 in the prostate cancer tissues were significantly higher than those in the adjacent normal tissues(all P<0.05).Among prostate cancer patients,the high expression rate of MYBL2 in tissues was higher in those with high Gleason score than in those with low Gleason score;the high expression rates of MYBL2 and TPX2 in tissues were higher in patients with high clinical T stage than in those with low clinical T stage(all P<0.05).Spearman rank cor-relation analysis showed that the expression level of MYBL2 was positively correlated with that of TPX2(r=0.662,P<0.01).During the follow-up period,57 patients had BCR,with a recurrence rate of 22.7%.Univariate COX regres-sion analysis showed that high Gleason score,high clinical T stage,high MYBL2 expression and high TPX2 expression were risk factors for poor prognosis of prostate cancer patients;multivariate COX analysis showed that high Gleason score was an independent risk factor for poor prognosis of prostate cancer patients.Conclusion MYBL2 and TPX2 are highly expressed in prostate cancer tissues and are related to tumor progression and poor prognosis,but further verification of their independent predictive ability is still needed.
