Abstract

A zebrafish-based evaluation method(UV irradiation model)was established to investigate the firming and anti-wrinkle efficacy of three cosmetic products.The effects of 5,10,and 20 min UV irradiation on the relative mRNA expression of type I collagen genes(col1a1a,col1a1b,col1a2)in AB strain wild-type zebrafish at 6 days post-fertilization(dpf)were examined to determine the optimal modeling conditions.Results showed that 20 min UV irradiation significantly downregulated the expression of all three collagen genes(P<0.05),establishing it as the appropriate condition for the zebrafish UV damage model.Using this model,a 5 g/L concentration of the Firming Lift Cream significantly upregulated col1a2 expression(P<0.05),while a 5 g/L concentration of the Firming Essence significantly upregulated col1a1a and col1a1b expression(P<0.05).Similarly,a 5 g/L concentration of the Firming Wrinkle-Smoothing Essence Water significantly upregulated col1a1a and col1a1b expression(P<0.05).Collectively,all three formulations promoted the expression of one or more type I collagen genes,demonstrating measurable in vitro firming and anti-wrinkle efficacy.These results were consistent with the claimed product functions.
