A new method of predicting shear wave velocity based on the uniform expression of rock skeleton models

Abstract
The shear wave velocity is widely used in seismic reservoir prediction,such as lithology identification,fluid identification,and porosity prediction,playing a significant role in the oil and gas sector.However,due to the high cost of shear wave logging,shear wave data are typically absent in actual logging data.To address this,various scholars have proposed different methods for predicting shear wave velocity,each with its specific applicability.To realize a universal shear wave prediction method and avoid the specificity of the empirical formula in the construction area,this paper proposes a new shear wave prediction method based on the unified model of dry rock skeleton,based on the predecessors.Different from most classical petrophysical modeling methods,this method combines the characteristics of many classical models,directly uses the measured longitudinal wave velocity to predict the shear wave velocity,requires fewer input parameters,is more flexible and simple to use,and has a wider range of applications.Assuming that the reservoirs are isotropic and uniformly distributed,the method is finally applied to the logging data of an actual sand and mudstone working area,and by comparing with the commonly used empirical formulas and the shear wave prediction results obtained by the approximate Xu-White model,it can be concluded that the prediction results of this method have higher accuracy,which verifies the rationality of the proposed method.关键词
