Effect of Preformed Metal Crown on Dental Caries in Children and Its Influence on Oral Function,Periodontal Condition and Aesthetics

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of metal pre formed crown restoration technology in the treatment of dental caries in children,and its influence on oral function,periodontal condition and aesthetics in children.Methods A total of 100 children with dental caries admitted between March 2020 and March 2022 were randomly divided into a study group(PMC restoration,n=50)and a control group(resin filling restoration,n=50).Oral function,chewing efficiency,bite force,periodontal status,aesthetic outcomes(PES)and white esthetic score(WES),and levels of interleukin-1β(IL-1β)and alkaline phosphatase(ALP)in gingival crevicular fluid were evaluated before treatment and 6 months post-treatment.Complications during follow-up were recorded.Results Both groups showed post-treatment improvements.The study group demonstrated significantly higher scores in oral fixation,masticatory function,speech function,comfort level,chewing efficiency,and bite force compared to the control group(all P＜0.05).Conversely,periodontal parameters-probing depth(PD),plaque index(PLI),gingival index(GI)-and inflammatory markers(IL-1β,ALP)were significantly lower in the study group(all P＜0.05).However,the control group exhibited superior aesthetic outcomes(PES and WES scores,all P＜0.05).No significant difference in complication rates was observed between the two groups(χ2=3.310,P=0.069).Conclusion PMC restoration significantly enhances oral function,masticatory efficiency,bite force,and periodontal health while reducing inflammatory responses in pediatric caries treatment.However,resin restoration remains superior in aesthetic outcomes.Clinical decisions should balance functional and aesthetic considerations based on individual patient needs and parental preferences.关键词
