Abstract

The minituber serves as the foundation of the potato seed production system,and its quality directly impacts the yield and quality of subsequent generations of seed potatoes and commercial potatoes.Using the potato variety'Dongnong 322'as the experimental material,this study systematically investigated the effects of three plant growth regulators—mepiquat chloride,uniconazole,and prohexadione-calcium—on potato plant growth suppression,focusing on different concentrations and application frequencies.Compared with the water control(CK)treatment,the three growth regulators showed significant differences in their effects on potato plant growth.The morphological indicators showed differences among different treatments.The plant height was reduced to a minimum of 20.8 cm(30 days after spraying)following two foliar applications of 50 mg/L uniconazole,representing a 66.5%decrease compared to the control.Also,the SPAD value of this treatment reached a maximum of 64.2(20 days after spraying),which was significantly higher than that of the water control(CK).The stem diameter of the 300 mg/L mepiquat chloride single-spray treatment showed the greatest increase,reaching 7.2 mm(30 days after spraying),which was significantly higher by 27.4%compared to the water control(CK).The treatments with a single application and two applications of 700 mg/L prohexadione-calcium showed the greatest reduction in compound leaf number,a 20.2%decrease compared to the water control(CK)(30 days after spraying).The yield analysis showed that the foliar spray treatment with 300 mg/L mepiquat chloride applied twice achieved the optimal yield-increasing effect,significantly improving by 40.2%compared to the water control(CK).The experimental results showed that among the three plant growth regulator treatments,the application of 300 mg/L mepiquat chloride,30 mg/L uniconazole,and 500 mg/L prohexadione-calcium(applied twice)effectively regulated plant growth and improved yield.
