Study on the Spatial Distribution Characteristics and Optimization of Barrier-Free Facilities Based on GIS:A Case of Wuhua District in Kunming

Abstract
With the intensification of population aging trend and the rise of humanism,the demand for barrier-free environments has become increasingly urgent.The barrier-free facilities are not only essentials for the travel convenience of the elderly,disabled,children and other vulnerable groups,but also important indicators measuring the inclusiveness and sustainable development of a city.Thus,the barrier-free facilities have gained increased attention and been constructed in a large scale.However,their spatial layout exposes several issues that need to be solved urgently.This paper takes Wuhua District in Kunming,Yunnan Province,as an example,utilizes Geographic Information System(GIS)technology to analyze the barrier-free facilities in this area,and finds that the barrier-free facilities have the problems of imbalanced distribution,insufficient density,single type,inadequate maintenance,and a lack of information signage.Based on the concept of humanistic design,this paper proposes the improvement strategies of optimizing facility planning,balancing facility distribution,diversifying facility types,improving the maintenance mechanisms,and enhancing the information signage.关键词
