Large-scale model tests of double-track box subgrade structure for high-speed railway

Abstract
As a novel subgrade structure,the box-subgrade has not yet been widely applied in engineering practice.Existing research has primarily relied on numerical simulations and theoretical analyses,with a lack of field measurement data.To investigate the bearing characteristics and deformation patterns of double-track box-subgrade under train loading,this paper designed a large-scale model test of double-track box-subgrade structure and conducted multiple experimental scenarios in the laboratory.The test data were systematically analyzed.The results are included as follows.Under train loading,the top plate of the box-subgrade primarily experiences compressive stress at loading positions,with the side plates under compression at both ends.Compared with bilateral loading,unilateral loading induces greater stress at the mid-section of the bottom plate surface,suggesting that separate verification should be conducted in structural design.The maximum stress value(575.36 kPa)occurs at the bottom surface of the top plate under mid-span double-track loading,which is consistent with previous research findings.The mechanical response and deformation patterns exhibit symmetry under double-track loading.The maximum non-uniformity of stress distribution occurs when single-track loading acts on the end sections,with the maximum settlement value of 0.56 mm,indicating the most critical stress-deformation conditions at the structural joints between the front and rear sections.The box-subgrade can demonstrate effective load dispersion characteristics,with stresses redistributed through the side plates to achieve uniform contact stress distribution on the bottom plate,justifying the use of simplified uniform stress assumptions in design.Under eccentric loading,the box-subgrade may experience differential settlement.Under train axle loading,it may potentially cause impact loading on the foundation strata,leading to foundation-related issues.Therefore,it is recommended to focus on the contact relationship between the box-subgrade structure and the underlying foundation during structural design to ensure deformation compatibility between them.关键词
