Abstract

The optimization of Electric Multiple Unit(EMU)routing plan holds great significance for railways to improve transportation efficiency,optimize resource allocation,and ensure transportation order.Through the analysis of existing methods,it is found that due to the limitations such as the inability of current theoretical optimization models to accurately depict real-world scenarios and the difficulty in improving the solution efficiency,routing plans are mainly formulated manually on site based on existing plans.To enhance the efficiency and quality of routing plan formulation,an optimization and adjustment method for existing routing plans was proposed,according to the idea of train service swap.By swapping train services that meet the interchangeable conditions between different routing-sections,the mileage balance of EMU routing plan was improved,which could facilitate the operation management of EMUs and reduce maintenance costs.With the idea of iterative search,an optimization and adjustment process for EMU routing plan was designed and implemented through MATLAB programming.The parameters could be flexibly set to meet the needs of different scenarios and preferences.Through a large-scale case study with 4 lines,135 routings,and 637 train services,the applicability of the proposed method was verified.The results show that,compared with the existing plan,the mileage balance of EMU routing plan is improved by using the proposed method with an optimization rate of 2.89%.And the optimization effect can be achieved under different search strategies and parameter settings.Compared with the existing adjustment method based on the idea of routing-section swap,the proposed method can further enhance the mileage balance on the basis of the plan optimized by the former method.In addition,the proposed method can complete the optimization calculation process in a relatively short time.The results can provide a reference for on-site plan formulation.
