Multiphysics modeling of corrosion product deposition behavior in the primary circuit of pressurized water reactors

Abstract
This study presents an integrated computational model for simulating the migration,deposition,and release behavior of corrosion products in the primary circuit of a pressurized water reactor(PWR).The model couples heat transfer,mass transfer,and corrosion product deposition processes,with a particular focus on differentiating the dep-osition mechanisms of ionic and particulate corrosion products.It incorporates phenomena such as mass transfer-driv-en deposition,subcooled nucleate boiling deposition,diffusion,convective mass transfer,and ion-particle transi-tions.Under dynamically varying heat transfer and flow conditions,the model calculates the spatial distributions of temperature and corrosion product concentrations throughout the primary circuit,enabling the prediction of corrosion product deposition thickness on the surfaces of various components such as fuel rods,steam generator tubing,and piping walls.Simulations were conducted under different operating conditions to investigate the impact of key parame-ters on the deposition rate and concentration distribution of corrosion products in the core,steam generator,hot leg,and cold leg regions.The results indicate that a 10%reduction in the flow rate increases the deposition rate in the core by 15.17%,while reducing the deposition rate in the steam generator by 13.91%.Overall,the flow rate varia-tions considerably affect the transport and deposition behavior of corrosion products in the PWR systems.关键词
