Industrial Robot Applications Empowering the Intelligent Development of Manufacturing Enterprises:Mechanism and Evidence

Abstract
Chinese traditional manufacturing enterprises still lack sufficient motivation to apply industrial robots on a large scale,and how the application of industrial robots affects the intelligent development of manufacturing enterprises deserves focused attention.By distinguishing between the two concepts of"industrial robot application"and"intelligent development of manufacturing enterprise",and based on the data of Chinese A-share manufacturing listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2011 to 2023,this study constructs a fixed-effect model to empirically test the causal effect of industrial robot application on promoting the intelligent development of manufacturing enterprises,as well as the effectiveness of three mechanism paths:talent factor empowerment,asset factor empowerment,and technology factor empowerment.At the same time,based on the internal and external ecological conditions of industrial robot application,it multi-dimensionally examines the heterogeneous impacts of three types of factors,such as the degree of government intervention,regional development,and enterprise technical characteristics,on the empowerment of industrial robot application to the intelligent development of manufacturing enterprises.The study finds that the application level of industrial robots affects the intelligent development of manufacturing enterprises mainly through three mechanism of channels,talent,assets and technology,while government intervention,regional development,and technical characteristics have heterogeneous moderating effects on it.To better exert the empowerment effect of industrial robots,it is necessary to encourage enterprises to expand the application scenarios of industrial robots,guide manufacturing enterprises to accelerate the adjustment and optimization of labor skills and quality through various means,and increase investment in intelligent assets.关键词
