Industry chain for high-level biosafety laboratory equipment based on integrated development of the chain itself:challenges and strategic pathways

Abstract
High-level biosafety facility clusters serve as a core strategic platform for the national biosafety system,representing a vital manifestation of the nation's biosafety capacity building.They play an irreplace-able role in responding to emerging infectious diseases,tackling zoonotic diseases,and safeguarding public health security.Their construction and stable operation rely on a comprehensive industrial chain for high-level biosafety equipment.Currently,China has preliminarily established a high-level biosafety industrial chain sys-tem covering planning and design,facility construction,key equipment manufacturing,and platform operation and maintenance.Nearly 100 biosafety level 3 and 4 laboratories have been built,and multiple high-level bio-safety vaccine production workshops been completed.Domestic production has been achieved for some equip-ment,including biosafety cabinets,positive-pressure protective suits,and life support systems,forming an ini-tial network of facilities.Nevertheless,the high-level biosafety industrial chain still faces significant challeng-es:insufficient independent research and development capabilities for core equipment,with a reliance on im-ports for certain high-end devices;upstream and downstream enterprises characterized by being"numerous,small,scattered,and weak,"resulting in a low market share for domestic products and weak brand com-petitiveness;and a shortage of multidisciplinary talent combining biosafety and engineering expertise,which constrains the innovative development of the industrial chain.This paper examined the development status,challenges,and future prospects of China's high-level biosafety equipment supply chain from the perspective of laboratory equipment.It aimed to provide industrial decision-making support for advancing the construc-tion of high-level biosafety facilities in China.关键词
