Abstract

Regenerated cellulose fibers were widely used in textiles and apparel manufacturing,however,the application of wrinkle-free and non-iron finishing processes often resulted in a reduction of their handle style qualities,which significantly impacted their comfort properties.To research the reasons for the insufficient handle and style of the fabric after moisture absorption and wrinkle-free and non-iron finishing,ordinary finishing,liquid ammonia finishing,wrinkle-free finishing,and liquid ammonia+wrinkle-free finishing were used to achieve wrinkle-free and non-iron treatments for Modal and Lyocell fabrics.Three-dimensional microscope,textiles softness tester,thermogravimetric analyzer,differential scanning calorimeter and X-ray diffractometer were used to test and characterize the property and morphology of Modal and Lyocell fabrics after ordinary finishing,liquid ammonia finishing,wrinkle-free finishing and liquid ammonia+wrinkle-free finishing,respectively.The influence mechanism of different wrinkle-free and non-iron finishing on fabric physical&chemical properties and their handle style were studied systematically.The results showed that the fabric handle style was determined by the stability of fiber structure and yarn structure together after water absorption,and the fabric softness decline rate was lowest after liquid ammonia+wrinkle-free finishing after moisture absorption.
