Qualitative Meta-synthesis of the Effects of Partner Attitudes on Cervical Cancer Screening Decision-Making in Women

Abstract
Objective To systematically synthesize Chinese and foreign qualitative studies on the effects of partner attitudes on cervical cancer screening decision-making,aiming to propose targeted support strategy optimization plans,thereby enhancing women's screening participation rates.Methods Qualitative studies on partner attitudes in cervical cancer screening were searched online in PubMed,Web of Science,CINAHL,Cochrane Library,Embase,CNKI,Wanfang Data,VIP and CBMdisc from their establishment to March 2024.Literature quality was evaluated using the Critical Appraisal Checklist for Qualitative Research(2016 edition)from the Joanna Briggs Institute Australian Centre for Evidence-Based Healthcare.The findings were synthesized and summarized using an aggregative synthesis approach.Results A total of 9 articles were included,from which 30 complete research topics were extracted and organized into 10 categories and 3 synthesized results.Synthesized result 1:Motivational and action support that actively facilitate partner participation in cervical cancer screening;synthesized result 2:Multidimensional barriers to partner participation in cervical cancer screening;synthesized result 3:The critical role of cognition and decision-making support for partner participation in cervical cancer screening.Conclusion Given the contradictory and complex attitudes of partners towards cervical cancer screening—encompassing supportive intentions,barriers and willingness for shared participation—healthcare providers should consider partners as key intervention targets.Specifically,healthcare providers should leverage partners'positive motivation to strengthen support,address specific barriers to encourage their participation,and improve men's cognition and decision-making through dyadic interventions,thereby collectively boosting screening support and participation rates.关键词
