Abstract
Objective To explore the mediating effects of fear of progression on the relationship between self-efficacy and demoralization syndrome in breast cancer patients,aiming to provide a reference for developing interventions to improve patients'quality of life.Methods From September 2022 to March 2023,273 breast cancer patients hospitalized in the Breast Surgery Department at a Grade Ⅲ-A hospital in Shandong Province were selected by convenience sampling.They were investigated using the General Information Questionnaire,the General Self-Efficacy Scale(GESE),the Fear of Progression Questionnaire-Short Form(FoP-Q-SF)and the Demoralization Scale-Mandarin Version(DS-MV).Results The DS-MV scores for the 273 breast cancer patients were(29.20±15.50)points.DS-MV scores were positively correlated with FoP-Q-SF scores(r=0.522,P<0.010)and negatively correlated with GESE scores(r=-0.384,P<0.010).The total effect of self-efficacy on demoralization syndrome was-0.354(95%CI:-0.482 to-0.209,P<0.001).Fear of progression was a mediating variable in the relationship between self-efficacy and demoralization syndrome,accounting for 44.35%of the total effect.Conclusion Fear of progression mediates the relationship between self-efficacy and demoralization syndrome in breast cancer patients.Healthcare providers can relieve demoralization syndrome and enhance the quality of life of breast cancer patients by improving their self-efficacy and reducing the degree of fear of progression.关键词
