Abstract

Leaf relative water content(RWC),net photosynthetic rate(Pn),stomatal conductance(Gs),intercellular CO2 concentration(Ci),transpiration rate(T),instantaneous water use efficiency(WUE)and nitrogen fixation efficiency(δ15N)of 15 nitrogen-fixing landscape tree species under drought stress were measured,and correlation analysis and cluster analysis were carried out to study the physiological drought resistance characteristics of 15 nitrogen-fixing landscape tree species.The results showed that each landscape species had different responses to each physiological indicator.RWC,Pn,Gs,Ci,Tr,and WUE had extremely significant correlations.Based on analysis of physiological drought resistance indicators,15 nitrogen-fixing landscape tree species were clustered into four categories,among which the drought resistance of Robinia pseudoacacia'Idaho',Albizia julibrissin,Gleditsia sinensis,Rhus typhina,Robinia pseudoacacia,Styphnolobium japonicum,Indigofera amblyantha,Amorpha fruticosa,and Lespedeza bicolor were the strongest,and Cercis glabra,Styphnolobium japonicum'Golden Stem'and Wisteria sinensis were the weakest.The drought resistance characteristics of candidate landscape tree species can be quickly determined based on quantitative measurement and cluster analysis of physiological indicators,which provides scientific basis for the health of green spaces and ecological security of landscape.
