Abstract

To investigate the influence of comonomer structure on the properties of semiaromatic polyamides,2,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid(PyDCA)was introduced into the molecular chain of poly(p-xylylene adipamide)(PA5T).Poly(p-xylylene adipamide-co-2,5-pyridinedicarboxylate)(PA5T/5Py)was obtained by salt formation and high-temperature high-pressure solution polymerization.The effect of the molar fraction of 2,5-pyridinedicarboxylate pentanediamide salt(5Py salt)on the structure and properties of PA5T/5Py was further studied.The results showed that the increase of 5Py salt content led to a decrease in the glass transition temperature(tg),melting point(tm),and initial thermal decomposition temperature(t5%)of PA5T.For PA5T/5Py-50,tm and t5%decreased by 9.8%and 2.0%,respectively,compared to PA5T's 350.3℃and 422.5℃.The introduction of PyDCA was found to enhance the solubility and processability of PA5T.
