Abstract
Dynamic vulcanizates of ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber/polypropylene thermoplastic vulcanizate(EPDM/PP TPV)with different degrees of crosslinking were prepared using a crosslinking agent,a derivative of polyesters.The crosslinking effect of the polyester derivative on the EPDM rubber phase and the influence of the crosslinking degree on the microstructure and properties of the dynamic vulcanizates(TPV)were investigated.The results showed that the rubber phase had a higher degree of crosslinking when the amount of polyester added was 4 phr and 5 phr.The higher degree of crosslinking made the rubber phase less likely to coalesce,which was conducive to phase transformation.The rubber particles had clear boundaries and a particle size of around 1 μm.The higher degree of crosslinking increased the crystallization temperature(tc)of the EPDM/PP TPV and decreased the melting point(tm),the enthalpy of fusion(ΔHm)during the second heating process,the crystallization enthalpy(ΔHc),and the crystallinity(Xc).Moreover,the rubber phase had smaller particle size,lower viscosity,lower equilibrium torque,and higher melt flow rate(MFR),resulting in excellent processability.However,the higher degree of crosslinking also led to stress concentration points at the interface between EPDM and PP,making the TPV more prone to fracture and reducing the tensile strength and elongation at break.关键词
