Re-evaluation of Systematic Reviews on the Treatment of Seborrheic Alopecia with Traditional Chinese Medicine

Abstract
Objective Re-evaluating the Methodological Quality,Risk of Bias,and Evidence Quality Grades of Outcome Indi-cators in Systematic Reviews of Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatments for Seborrheic Alopecia.Methods Computerized sear-ches were performed on the databases including CNKI,CBM,VIP,WanFang Data,PubMed,The Cochrane Library,and Web of Science.Additionally,manual searches were conducted in journals such as Journal of Chinese Medicine,Chinese Journal of Evi-dence-Based Medicine,Chinese Journal of Dermatology,and conference proceedings,with the time limit set from the establish-ment of the databases to October 1,2024.Two researchers independently screened and extracted data from the literature.The AMSTAR 2 scale was applied to evaluate the methodological quality of the included studies,the ROBIS tool was used to assess the risk of bias,and the GRADE 3.6 system was employed to evaluate the evidence quality of outcome indicators.Results A total of five systematic reviews were included,and their main conclusions indicated that TCM is beneficial in improving the therapeutic effect of seborrheic alopecia.The AMSTAR 2 evaluation results revealed that none of the five studies achieved a"high"level of methodological quality,with three classified as"low"quality and two as"very low"quality.The ROBIS evaluation showed that the risk of bias for the five systematic reviews was"unclear"in phase two and"high"in phase three.The GRADE system evalu-ation revealed that among the 14 outcome indicators,9 were of moderate quality evidence,5 were of low quality evidence,and none were of high quality evidence.Conclusion The methodological quality of the systematic evaluation included in this study was poor,the risk of bias was high,and the quality of evidence for the outcome indicators was of low grade;although the results of the included studies showed that herbal treatments do have some advantages in improving the treatment outcome of seborrheic alo-pecia,high-quality clinical studies are needed to validate this in the future.关键词
