摘要

Abstract

In order to reveal the occurrence mechanism and achieve precise evaluation and characterization of residual gas in unconsolidated sandstone gas reservoirs,this study investigated such reservoirs in the Qaidam Basin.By combining geological features,production performances,physical simulation experiments,and algorithms,a fine evaluation and characterization method for residual gas was constructed based on the volumetric method.The formation mechanism of residual gas was analyzed,four key parameters(i.e.single-well-controlled area,current porosity,residual gas saturation,and residual pressure)were clarified,and the key parameter values were determined by comprehensively considering geological features,production performances,mechanism and so on.On this basis,detailed evaluations were conducted on typical sandbodies,resulting in an"one table,one map"outcome for residual gas.Three types of residual gas were identified and characterized:non-water-invaded high-abundance residual gas,water-sealed residual gas,and low-abundance residual gas.A chart illustrating the overlapping relationship between residual gas distribution and dominant water invasion pathways was constructed.The following results are obtained.(i)The high-abundance residual gas,with the reserve abundance≥1.0×108 m3/km2,is located in the high structural position of gas reservoir,which is currently highly controlled by production wells and acts as the main gas-producing area.(ii)The water-sealed residual gas,with the reserve abundance of 0.5×108-1.0×108 m3/km2,or>1.0×108 m3/km2 outside the water-sealed zone,distributes in the middle to high structural parts,where the wells are blocked due to water invasion.(iii)The non-producing low-abundance or water-locked residual gas,with the reserve abundance<1.0×108 m3/km2,exists in the low structural part which is lowly controlled by wells or blocked by water invasion.It is concluded that the proposed solutions,such as water control for stabilizing gas production,unblocking for production resumption,and beneficial increase of gas production,can provide basis and reference for precise potential tapping and enhanced gas recovery in such or similar unconsolidated sandstone gas reservoirs.
