The relationship between family cohesion and well-being:A systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract
Numerous studies have examined the relationship between family cohesion and well-being,yet findings remain inconsistent.This study conducted a meta-analysis using a random-effects model on 42 studies(comprising 45 independent samples).The results revealed a strong correlation between family cohesion and well-being(r=0.35,95％CI[0.30,0.40]).The strength of this association was moderated by measurement tools for family cohesion,individualism index,and sampling year,but not by age,gender,measurement tools for well-being,as well as study design type.These findings partially clarify the debates among attachment theory,basic psychological need theory,and the circumplex model,suggesting that well-being increases with higher levels of family cohesion.关键词
