Abstract

[Objective]The spatial patterns and influencing factors of terraced fields in the Miaoling Mountainous Area were studied to provide theoretical basis for the protection and utilization of arable land and rural development.[Method]Based on remote sensing images and basic geographic information data,the spatial distribution characteristics and main influencing factors of terraced fields in Miaoling were revealed from different spatial scales by means of kernel density analysis,landscape pattern index,Moran's I and geographic detector.[Result]There were 4.70 × 104 terraces in Miaoling Mountainous Area,with a total area of 2552.09 km2 and an average area of 5.42 hm2,of which 71.03%were terraces with a single area of less than 5 hm2,showing the characteristics of'large quantity and small area'on the whole.In terms of river basins,the patch density of terraced fields in Duliujiang River basin to the south of Miaoling was 0.02 patches/hm2,and that in Qing-shuijiang River basin to the north of Miaoling was 0.01 patches/hm2,showing a distribution pattern of'dense in the south and sparse in the north'.Moran's I of terraced fields at the three scales of county,township and village were 0.0237,0.4381 and 0.8770,respectively,in which the agglomeration effect at county level was not obvious,but as a whole,with the decrease of spatial scale,Moran's I gradually in-creased,and the degree of terrace agglomeration gradually increased,and the spatial auto-correlation gradually increased,and the space for high-value agglomeration and low-value agglomeration was increased.Population density was the most influential factor on the spatial pattern of terraced fields in Miaoling,and the two factors with the strongest interaction were population density and land use intensity.[Conclusion]The spatial pattern of terraced fields in Miaoling is the result of many factors,in which human activities play a leading role.The research re-sults can provide theoretical basis for the sustainable utilization and protection of terraced fields in Miaoling Mountainous Area.
