Advances in the Mechanisms and Application of Plant-Derived Natural Antioxidants in Alleviating Oxidative Stress in Early Livestock Embryos

Abstract
During the in vitro culture of livestock embryos,early embryos are highly susceptible to oxidative stress due to their inherently weak antioxidant defense systems,leading to developmental abnormalities or even embryonic death,which severely limits the efficiency of in vitro embryo production.Recent studies have demonstrated that plant-derived natural antioxidants,such as quercetin,anthocyanins,and tea polyphenols,exhibit diverse biological activities and significant potential in alleviating oxidative stress and improving the developmental quality of early embryos cultured in vitro.This review summarizes the classification and biological characteristics of plant-derived natural antioxidants,with a particular focus on their mechanisms in mitigating oxidative stress in early livestock embryos,including reactive oxygen species(ROS)scavenging,regulation of antioxidant enzyme systems,and inhibition of apoptosis.Furthermore,the current research status and application progress of different types of plant-derived natural antioxidants are discussed,aiming to provide theoretical insights for optimizing and upgrading livestock in vitro embryo production technologies.关键词
