Abstract

A single-factor randomized block design was employed,in which 24 healthy"Taihang Yun"cattle with similar body weights were randomly divided into 3 groups,with 8 replicates per group and 1 cattle per replicate.The groups included a low-pro-tein medium-energy group(Ⅰ),a medium-protein medium-energy group(Ⅱ),and a medium-protein high-energy group(Ⅲ).The di-etary net energy for gain(NEg)levels are respectively 4.55 MJ/kg,4.55 MJ/kg,and 4.63 MJ/kg,respectively.The dietary crude pro-tein(CP)levels were 9.64%,10.49%,and 10.49%,respectively.The pre-trial period lasted for 14 days,followed by a 91-day trial period.The results indicated that:① There were no significant differences in initial body weight,final body weight at the end of each trial period,or feed-to-weight ratio among the three groups(P>0.05).During the mid-trial period,the average dry matter in-take and daily gain of Group Ⅲ were significantly higher than those of Groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ(P<0.05),with a daily gain of 2.25 kg/d,which was 0.87 kg/d and 0.76 kg/d higher than Groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ,respectively.Throughout the entire trial period,Group Ⅲ had the highest daily gain of 1.43 kg/d,representing a 23.28%increase over Group Ⅰ and an 18.18%increase over Group Ⅱ.The average daily dry matter intake of Group Ⅲ was 10.07 kg/d,showing an increasing trend(P=0.073).The feed conversion ratio of Group Ⅲwas 7.36,which was lower than that of Groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ(P=0.598).② The apparent digestibility of DM,CP,EE,and NDF in the di-et was highest in Group Ⅲ,with DM digestibility at 71.45%,CP digestibility at 68.34%,EE digestibility at 70.35%,and NDF di-gestibility at 62.74%.③ Compared with Group Ⅰ,the feed-to-meat ratio economic benefits of the cattle in Groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ im-proved,with Group Ⅲ achieving a profit of 15.89 yuan/(d·head).In conclusion,for fattening bulls of"Taihang Yun"cattle weigh-ing approximately 500 kg,a diet with a net energy for gain of 4.63 MJ/kg and a protein level of 10.49%is recommended.
