Application of predictive nursing combined with ginger and Neiguan point acupressure using an electronic antiemetic device in rectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy

Abstract
Objective To analyze the application value of predictive nursing strategies combined with ginger and acupressure using an electronic antiemetic device in the treatment of patients with rectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy.Methods A total of 106 rectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy were enrolled the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University between January 2023 and January 2024.They were randomly divided into an observation group(n=53)and a control group(n=53)using a simple random sampling method.Both groups received predictive nursing,and the observation group received additional ginger capsules and acupressure at the Neiguan point(PC6)using an electronic antiemetic device.The frequency,duration,and severity of symptoms of nausea and vomiting in the two groups were evaluated,and the changes in Karnofsky Performance Status(KPS),quality of life,as well as the prevention and treatment effects of nausea and vomiting were compared between the two groups.Results After 5 days of intervention,the observation group exhibited lower frequencies,shorter durations,and milder severities of nausea,vomiting,and retching compared with the control group.The score of KPS,score of quality of life,and rate of effective prevention and treatment for nausea and vomiting were all higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Based on the predictive nursing strategies,the combination of ginger and acupressure using an electronic antiemetic device can help patients with rectal cancer effectively reduce the frequency of nausea and vomiting,shorten the duration of symptoms,and alleviate the severity of symptoms.Moreover,it is beneficial for improving the functional status and quality of life of patients,delivering a good preventive and therapeutic effect.关键词
