Effects of Yinlian Hewei Granules on Bone Marrow Suppression,Physical Condition,and Clinical Symptoms in Elderly Patients Receiving Postoperative Adjuvant Chemotherapy for Gastric Cancer

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of Yinlian Hewei Granules on bone marrow suppression,nutritional status,immune function,tumor markers,and clinical symptoms in elderly patients receiving SOX(S-1 and oxaliplatin)regimen adjuvant chemotherapy after radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer.Methods A total of 60 elderly patients receiving SOX regimen adjuvant chemotherapy after radical gastrectomy were selected and divided into the control group and the study group according to a random number table,with 30 cases in each group.The control group received basic treatment only,while the study group was given basic treatment and oral administration of Yinlian Hewei Granules.The treatment course of the two groups was 12 weeks.Clinical symptoms and adverse events were compared between the two groups.Bone marrow suppression indicators,white blood cell count(WBC),hemoglobin(HGB),platelet count(PLT),nutritional status indicators,serum albumin(ALB),serum prealbumin(PA),serum potassium(K),serum sodium(Na),immune function indicators such as CD3+T cells,CD4+T cells,B lymphocytes,natural killer(NK)cells,and tumor markers such as carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),carbohydrate antigen 199(CA199),carbohydrate antigen 724(CA724),carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125)were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Results The clinical efficacy of the study group was better than that of the control group(P＜0.05).The adverse events caused by chemotherapy in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,WBC,PLT,PA,CD3+T cells,CD4+T cells,B lymphocytes,and NK cells in the study group were significantly decreased compared with their pre-treatment levels(P＜0.05),while HGB,ALB,K,and Na showed no significantly changes(P＞0.05).In the control group,WBC,HGB,PLT,ALB,PA,CD3+T cells,CD4+T cells,B lymphocytes,and NK cells were significantly decreased after treatment compared with pre-treatment levels(P＜0.05),while K and Na had no significant changes(P＞0.05).After treatment,WBC,HGB,PLT,ALB,PA,CD3+T cells,CD4+T cells,B lymphocytes,and NK cells in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05),while K and Na showed no significantly difference between the two groups after treatment(P＞0.05).There were no significant differences in tumor markers between or within two groups before and after treatment(P＞0.05).Conclusion Yinlian Hewei Granules can alleviate chemotherapy-related adverse reactions,improve clinical symptoms,and improve nutritional status and immune function of elderly patients receiving SOX regimen adjuvant chemotherapy after radical gastrectomy.关键词
