Research on the Grain Struggle in the Huainan Anti-Japanese Base Area
摘要
Abstract
Due to its strategic location and relatively favorable agricultural production conditions,the Huainan area should have been a stable granary.However,after the outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggres-sion,the harsh natural environment,the invasion and destruction by the Japanese forces,and grain seizures by Japanese,puppet,and KMT diehard forces plunged the base area into grain shortages and caused serious hardship for both the military and civilians.For this reason,the base-area government adopted measures such as reclaiming wasteland and building water-conservancy projects;reducing rents and interest and boosting production;stepping up anti-smuggling enforcement;implementing armed protection of grain supplies and streamlining the military and administration;and practicing strict economy and frugality to alleviate the grain shortage and ensure supplies for both military and civilian use.These measures effectively shattered the enemy's plan to"sustaining war through war",laying a solid foundation for stabilizing social order in the base area and ultimately winning the War of Resis-tance against Japanese Aggression.关键词
