Abstract

In this study,237 wheat germplasms(185 ICARDA-introduced wheat accessions and 52 domestic core germplasms)were used as the materials to investigate the four traits of spike length,number of spikes per plant,number of grains per spike,and number of spikelets per spike under eight environmental conditions.The re-sults showed that the four spike-related traits exhibited extensive variation across the eight environments,with the minimum variation range of spike length(9.63%to 13.22%)and the maximum variation range of spike grain num-ber per spike(9.65%to 25.45%).Then,GWAS of four spike-related traits were performed using a multi-locus random SNP effect mixed linear model based on the genotyping data from a 660K SNP array analysis.A total of 506 significant loci associated with spike traits were identified,including 148 for spike length,107 for number of spikes per plant,138 for number of grains per spike,and 113 for number of spikelets per spike.Based on LD and genome annotation information,490 candidate genes associated with spike length were obtained,as well as 164 genes asso-ciated with the number of spikes per plant,181 genes associated with the number of grains per spike,and 81 genes associated with the number of spikelets per spike,of which 37 associated SNPs were found in its genetic regions.Based on haplotype analysis,we ultimately obtained seven main candidate genes,namely TraesCS1A02G285000,TraesCS4D02G029400,TraesCS2D02G155000,TraesCS1D02G383400,TraesCS5B02G274700,TraesCS6A02G002500,and TraesCS2D02G018300.This study provided the material and genetic resources for overcoming genetic homogeniza-tion and breeding high-yield new wheat varieties through utilizing the introduced germplasm.
