Toxicity of 14 Fungicides with Six Different Functional Characteristics Against Black Spot Pathogen of Panax notoginseng

Abstract

[Objective]The antibacterial effect of 14 common fungicides against black spot pathogen of Panax notoginseng was investigated to provide the basis for controlling black spot of P.notoginseng and other Chinese medicinal materials.[Method]The pathogenicity of the pathogen causing black spot of P.notoginseng isolated from the diseased P.notoginseng leaves was detected,and the morphology and molecular biology of the isolated pathogen were identified.The antibacterial rate of 14 fungicides with six different functional characteristics(mitochondrial respiratory inhibitor,broad-spectrum fungicide,systemic fungicide,protective fungicide,sterol biosynthesis inhibitor and microbial antibiotic)against black spot pathogen of P.notoginseng was investigated by a antibacterial test.The regression equations for daily toxicity of 14 fungicides were calculated by using mycelium growth assay.The antibacterial effect of 14 fungicides was compared based on their EC50 dynamic change values.[Result]The pathogen causing black spot of P.notoginseng was identified as Alternaria alternata.The colony diameter treated with different fungicides increased with extension of antibacterial test days and the inhibition rate showed a declining trend generally.The correlation coefficient(r)of toxicity regression equations of different fungicides was more than 0.9,which indicated that the fungicide concentration was positively related to the inhibition rate very significantly.The EC50 value of 14 fungicides on 9 d was Fluazinam<Procymidone<Propiconazol<Tebuconazole<Difenoconazole<Dimethachlone<Boscalid<Hymexazol<Pyraclostrobin<Carbendazim<Mancozeb<Polyoxin<Fernasan<Ethylicin.The EC50 value of mitochondrial respiratory inhibitors was less than 10 mg/L and the inhibition rate of Boscalid,Pyraclostrobin and Fluazinam against A.alternata was 0.39%-54.95%,8.75%-45.14%and 57.27%-86.95%respectively.The EC50 value of broad-spectrum fungicides was 17.730 1-965.000 0 mg/L and the inhibition rate of Thiram,Mancozeb and Ethylicin against A.alternata was 6.21%-34.16%,5.64%-100.00%and 1.59%-7.83%separately.The EC50 value of internal fungicides was less than 20 mg/L and the inhibition rate of Dimethachlone,Hymexazol and Carbendazim against A.alternata was 21.17%-100.00%,0.56%-47.91%and 11.82%-35.38%respectively.The EC50 value of protective fungicides was less than 1 mg/L and the inhibition rate of saprophyl against A.alternata was 36.25%-82.50%.The EC50 value of sterol biosynthesis inhibitors against A.alternata was less than 1 mg/L and the inhibition rate of Difenoconazole,Tebuconazole and Propiconazol was 6.91%-88.10%,5.98%-61.08%and 13.38%-82.16%separately.The EC50 value of antibiotic fungicides derived from microbial source was less than 20 mg/L and the inhibition rate of Polyoxin against A.alternata was 0.38%-25.85%.[Conclusion]The antibacterial effect of sterol methylation inhibitors and protective fungicide with EC50<1 mg/L and mitochondrial respiratory inhibitors with EC50<10 mg/L against A.alternata causing black spot of P.notoginseng is better than other 3 types of fungicides.Fluazinam,Dimethachlone,Procymidone,Difenoconazole,Tebuconazole and Propiconazol with EC50<1 mg/L and Boscalid,Pyraclostrobin and Hymexazol with EC50 of 1-10 mg/L can be used for field control of black spot disease in P.notoginseng cultivation.
