Abstract

When replacing raw materials in coatings,using analytical instruments to analyze the physical and chemical structure of the raw materials can screen out the ones that have the most similar structure to the raw materials used in the original formula,which can improve the efficiency of raw material replacement.Using the raw material comparison and screening methods described in this article,two organic epoxy curing agents were analyzed.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis showed that the functional groups and chemical bonds contained in the two curing agents were the same.However,further analysis by pyrolysis gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(Py-GC/MS)revealed significant differences in the content of diethylenetriamine,isophorone diamine,and meta phenylenediamine between curing agents A and B.Differential scanning calorimetry analysis revealed that curing agent A had an endothermic reaction peak at 68.9℃,while curing agent B had an endothermic reaction peak at 59.9℃.Two types of inorganic fillers,mica iron oxide ash,were also analyzed,and X-ray fluorescence analysis revealed that the types and contents of elements in the two inorganic fillers were the same.However,further analysis using laser particle size analyzer and scanning electron microscope revealed significant differences in particle size and microstructure between the two fillers.The average particle size of sample C is 23 μm,with a specific surface area of 3800 cm2/cm3,presenting a sheet-like structure.The average particle size of sample D is 32 μm,with a specific surface area of 2400 cm2/cm3,presenting a granular structure.
