Abstract
Coating failure occurred on the underside of an external floating roof in a newly constructed crude oil tank.The failed coating was analyzed through methods including chemical composition analysis,elemental content analysis,water-soluble ion content analysis,and pH value analysis.Combining these findings with construction records,the cause of the coating failure was investigated.The results indicated that the failure was attributed to inadequate surface preparation before the application of the topcoat,following the hydrostatic testing of the tank,which cause residual contaminants such as salts and dust on the surface.Frequent rainy conditions during construction,potentially causing condensation to form on the pontoon's underside may also contribute to the coating failure.关键词
