Abstract

Fiber Bragg Grating(FBG)sensors are used to characterize the structural loads of rotor blades.An FBG sensing network and its airborne measurement system are designed for in-flight measurement of rotor blade structural loads.In flight testing,a single-load calibration method based on the differential algorithm of FBG response information was employed to obtain the load model coefficient matrix,and a method for determining the actual installation angle of the blade section is proposed.Data analysis shows that the load model error meets the engineering requirement of less than 5%for in-flight measurement.Comparison of FBG sensing results with strain gauge measurements demon-strates the feasibility of FBG-based synchronous dynamic in-flight measurement of rotor blade structural loads,accu-mulating experience for helicopter strength flight tests based on FBG sensing technology.
