Abstract

This paper aims to address the severe deformation of empty roadways,the large-scale roof fall and frame collapses caused by the methods of traditional reinforcement support and timber support during the below coal seam working face going through the empty roadway.Taking the 21802 mining face in contiguous seam at Dongrong No.3 Mine as the research subject,based on the pressure-bearing char-acteristics of high-water-content rapid-setting materials,the study proposes a segmented isolation backfill-ing technique for empty roadways;and by using 3DEC software,analyzes analyzes the roof displacement and stress variation of the upper coal seam mining face and the impact of different backfill widths on roof displacement and stress changes in empty roadways.The results indicate that as the backfill intervals at 5 meter with 3,5,and 7 meter backfill widths,the roof subsidence of the empty roadway measures 35,17,and 8 mm respectively.This method of 5 meter interval with 7 meter backfill can effectively mitigate the effects of repeated mining activities and mining face passing through the empty roadway on both the working face roof settlement and the surrounding rock movement in the empty roadway.
