Abstract

To investigate differences in the composition and diversity of dominant and subdominant intestinal microbiota between male and female common fallow deer during winter and summer,and determine whether fallow deer intestinal microbiota exhibits distinct and typical characteristics of ruminant microbiota,this study used 16S rRNA sequencing technology to analyze the intestinal microbiota of captive common fallow deer in Zhongshan Park,Yinchuan City,Ningxia.Comparative analysis of intestinal microbiota was conducted between summer and winter under the same sex and environmental conditions.The results showed that the dominant and subdominant phyta were Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes in the intestinal microbiota of fallow deer during summer,and Proteobacteria and Firmicutes during winter.At the genus level,predominant genera during summer included Unclassified Ruminococcaceae,Unclassified Clostridians,Other,Romboutsia,and Unclassified Firmicutes,while winter exhibited Psychrobacter,Other,Unclassified Ruminococcaceae,Pseudomonas,and Unclassified Clostridians.Alpha-diversity analysis indicated significantly higher intestinal microbiota diversity in both male and female common fallow deer during summer compared to winter(P<0.05).This study aims to further explore the diversity of intestinal microbiota of different sexes in common fallow deer affected by environmental factors,and provides data support for the rational management of captive fallow deer.
