Abstract

Through analyzing the measurement principle and formula of the thick paste pipeline flow measurement apparatus(simplified as measurement apparatus),the slip layer error is the main source of system error.To evaluate and enhance the accuracy of the measurement apparatus,the error research is conducted using a variety of mathematical tools,including limit concepts and Bingham fluid laminar velocity profile approximation,and an error correction method is proposed by experimental verification.The results show that the corrected relative error of the measurement apparatus can be controlled within±6%.This approaches the lowest industrial instrument precision grade of 5.0(±5%).For coal slurry mass concentration above 63%,the measurement accuracy can reach grade 4.0.Consequently,a measurement strategy is recommended:the specified measurement apparatus should be employed for mass concentration above 63%,while an electromagnetic flowmeter should be used for lower concentrations,which can ensure that the measurement accuracy of thick paste flow across the full range of concentrations meets national standards.
