摘要
Abstract
In the field of contemporary animal ethics, the theory that defines people's moral obligations to animals from a capability-oriented perspective has long occupied a dominant position.Animal ethicist Palmer has proposed a relational theory, while acknowledging that sentient animals possess moral status, argues that humans have different moral obligations to wild animals and to domesticated animals.Because humans have a causal responsibility for the vulnerability of domesticated animals,we bear special moral obligations toward them, whereas our duties toward wild animals are different.By concentrating on actual human-animal relationships, the relational theory offers a grounded alternative to abstract theorizing.Furthermore, its consistency with modern ecological science provides a more expansive and integrated perspective on animal ethics.Nonetheless, the dilemma of justifying positive obligations toward wild animals and the ambiguity in defining relational criteria constitute significant challenges for the relational theory.Drawing on Gruen's theory of entangled empathy and Pogge's global justice perspective, this paper attempts to offer a solution to the dilemmas confronting relational theory.关键词
