Abstract

Phytosterols of different forms were extracted from four types of seaweed and evaluated for their anti-hair loss and oil-control effects.Under optimal conditions,fucosterol from Undaria pinnatifida contained(3 217.97±16.04)μg/g,with purified fucosterol reaching 96.87%±2.14%purity.Extracts and purified products obtained via saponification and acid hydrolysis followed by alkali saponification effectively inhibited lipid synthesis in sebaceous gland cells,suppressing sebum secretion.Fucosterol and β-sitosterol inhibited Dickkopf-1(DKK-1)expression and reduced interleukin-6(IL-6)secretion in human dermal papilla cells(DPCs),with downregulation rates of 36.94%and 39.49%,respectively,and inhibition rates of 19.14%and 23.56%.This study elucidates the content and distribution characteristics of various phytosterols in seaweed,highlighting their potential application in managing seborrheic hair loss.
