Abstract
The study of the Ammonium Polyphosphate/Expandable Graphite(APP/EG)binary intumescent flame-retardant system provides practical support for developing eco-friendly fireproof coatings for steel structures.In this work,a flame combustion apparatus was used to investigate the effects of expandable graphite,thermal insulation fillers(fly-ash cenospheres and basalt flakes),and blended emulsions on the performance of waterborne epoxy intumescent coatings.The microstructure of the resulting char layer was analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM)and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).Results indicate that when the expandable graphite content was 17%,the char layer formed was dense and uniform,with a backside temperature of 207.9℃,an expansion ratio of 18,and an ablation rate of 8%,demonstrating optimal fire resistance.When the mass ratio of fly-ash cenospheres to basalt flakes was 6∶11,the maximum backside temperature reached 220℃,with an expansion ratio of 9.91,and an ablation rate of 14.77%,yielding a relatively uniform char layer.When the epoxy emulsion to silicone-acrylate emulsion ratio was 3∶1,the maximum backside temperature increased to 230.6℃,the expansion ratio decreased to 7.64,and the ablation rate was 16.53%,while the char layer remained uniform.关键词
